Great beer selection -- unfortunately, I've never been happy with the service. The waitstaff is slow and inattentive. The food isn't that great either. I ordered a slice of cheesecake here once and it came with a large spot of mold on it.
  • Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, blockhouse (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
A beautiful cathedral with great music adorning its services. Unfortunately, visiting the cathedral is an experience besmirched by the panhandlers who are perennially stationed outside.

  • Garfield Park Basketball Court and Skate Park, Mark (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
Also a pretty decent public skateboard park. Not so much shady as it is underused. Lighting is a big issue here. Definitely has potential to be a fun place for kids and families, since Garfield Park is great and widely used.

  • Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant, Sewerplant daddy (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
Also, if you look at the north end of the pier you will see darker water. That is the discharge from the plant. This location is always amoung the top 10 best fishing spots in the United States due to the clarity of the water. The water Blue Plains discharges into the Potomac River is as clear as tap water.
  • Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant, Sewerplant daddy (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
Blue Plains is the largest Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant in the world. It is the single point greatest reduction of Nitrogen and other nutrients going to the Chesapeake Bay. It has new odor control systems coming online as this is posted. Blue Plains treats an average of 370 million gallons of wastewater a day from all of DC and parts of MD and VA. That would hardly qualify it as the largest source of pollution.
